One of the most popular piano works of the late 19th Century, Cecile Chaminade's "Scarf Dance" arranged for mixed clarinet quartet (three Bb soprano clarinets and one Bb bass clarinet). This delightfully graceful charmer is in 3/4 meter and requires solid players on all parts. The melody lines switch from time to time between 1st and 2nd parts. Musically sensitive mature performers will be able to fully employ the very expressive romanticism popular in its day, but even without that almost over-the-top romanticism this will work well. Top note is F above the treble clef and is found on 1st and 2nd parts. Playable by advanced intermediate players with excellent command of their full range, but musically challenging for any level. Excellent for ensemble contests and recital.
