This hilarious cumulative song grows more absurd with each verse, offering performers ample opportunities for playful theatrics.
NOTE: The lyrics of the “ensemble version” (1-4 pt chorus, 2 soloists, and piano) and the “solo version” (solo voice, piano) are slightly different from one another. Singers wishing to perform this song as a dialogue will find it easy to do so using the score of the ensemble version.

Where There Is Light in the Soul

Two different a cappella arrangements of the beloved Polish carol Infant Holy, Infant Lowly. The "Soulful Close Harmony" version is caressed with folk inflections and pentatonic embellishments. The "Classical Chorale" version contains rich inner voices and poignant suspensions.
 
In both arrangements the traditional English lyrics by Edith M. Reid are followed by an original third verse which speaks to the blessing ushered forth by all births.

Infant Holy Infant Lowly

Danish philosopher and theologian Soren Kirkegaard suffered from depression – a condition then called "melancholy" – for most of his life. In this intimate prayer, Kirkegaard refers to this condition as "the tempests of my heart" as he seeks for the peace and stillness that eludes him.
 
NOTE: The "Flexible Voicing" arrangement of this song includes voicings for 2-part, 3-part, and 4-part ensembles, each of which reflects a different facet of Kierkegaard’s timeless prayer.
