Second Wind

Four short movements – To the Sea; Securing the Jib; Broadside Fury and Stormwind – chart a nautical voyage in this medium-level concert band work. Predominantly set in a 6/8 sea-shanty style, the writing shifts to 9/8 for the final intensified scene, packing complex rhythmic variation and technical demands into a concise form. A vigorous closer for high school band that delivers clear character changes and sustained rhythmic challenges within an exciting programmatic design.
