Seeing Red is written as a nod to Charlie Cox's portrayal of Daredevil, which is personally one of the most well written and acted characters I have watched. Being that I am comic book nerd, this rendition of a widely loved comic book character is extra special to me. This piece was also written for the Chico High School Band under the direction of Ruben Morales which is the school in which I did my student teaching and my mentor teacher during that time. All of this culminated in the title Seeing Red which is a nod to these inspirations and dedications. Seeing red can be seen as a nod to the pure anger that Charlie's character experiences as well as the color of the original suit he wears. The seeing in seeing red can also be seen as a play on words as Charlie's character is blind and is an integral part of his character. Red is also the primary colour of Chico High School which is in part why this idea and title made so much sense for the school it was written for.
