This publication provides settings of Psalm 23, Psalm 92, Psalm 98, Psalm
100, Psalm 121, Psalm 130, and The Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12) for the
worship service. Although originally composed for mixed choir, children may
also sing them. The composers of these delightful chants include John
Burrowes, Thomas Kelway, George MacFarren, and James Turle, highly respected
Anglican composers of their day. Included in the back of The Lutheran Hymnal
(1941), these chants have been updated with text from the English Standard
Version (ESV) and are being made available to a new generation of singers.
Chord names and symbols are provided so that the chants may be accompanied by
harp, lyre, or other stringed instruments. The audio sample consists of the
chord progression of each of the seven chants played in succession by an
organ.
