She Sang the Stars

Viewing the stages of womanhood through the Kalevala, a Finnish epic compiled by Elias Lonnrot in the 19th century, this five-movement work is a powerful statement for treble choirs. The texts are presented in English translations throughout; the outer movements act as an introduction and conclusion, while the central movements profile three female characters from the Kalevala at different stages of life.
