Commissioned by the MIT Wind Ensemble, Dinner for Four was conceived as a short feature piece for 2 pairs of like instruments performed by teacher-student duos. The premier was performed by two flutes and two tubas; however, any balanced pair of high and low instruments may be used (e.g., 2 alto saxes and 2 trombones). Alternate transpositions of the high and low solo parts are available. If solo instrumentalists are not available in pairs any appropriately balanced quartet of instrumentalists may be featured.
