Folk Traditions in Classical Music

This lesson plan may be used in either band class or general music classes. In band class it may be used with Themes of 19th Century Composers for Band, (available from J.W. Pepper). This plan describes how Liszt, Brahms, Dvorak, and Mahler were influenced by, and used folk elements in their own music. The plan includes an instruction page, audio examples, vocabulary, an adaptable sample multiple choice assessment, an answer key, and an order of instruction page with national core standards listed.
