Short Cuts

ShortCuts is a cycle of four classically oriented intimate pieces for flute with piano accompaniment, written with a clear, transparent musical language and a strong focus on playability. The music lies comfortably under the fingers and is especially well suited for developing musical expression, dynamics, phrasing, breath control, and articulation. Each of the four movements has its own distinct character and invites the performer to explore sound, line, and musical movement with awareness and nuance: I – Moderato II – Melancholy III – Elegia IV – Animation The movements may be studied and performed individually or as a complete cycle. The collection is suitable for self-study, instrumental teaching, recitals, and performances, and supports a conscious and enjoyable approach to working on musical expression.
