Down in a Coalmine

This is the third song in a four-song set titled Appalachian Stories. After opening with a fiddle solo, the choral writing is reminiscent of a hymn at first, then segues into a dance-like feel as the singers tell the story of the workers who travel "deep into the coal, deep underneath the ground."
