My second simfonieta, composed in 2014, is a classic attempt at the pure form of a "small symphony", in this example scored for a
large wind orchestra (my first one being written for symphony orchestra). It has it's roots in an even smaller scale of ensemble, a sextet
of wind players and percussion, which I composed over a span of only two weeks at a Vienna MDW University's masterclass in
composition taking place in Semmering, Austria in 2007. The basic form of four rather short movements as well as the thematic
material can both be traced back to that composition, which I later revisioned extensively, expanding the original idea both in size of
the ensemble and the development of the exposition content.
The result is a technically challenging piece for a group of experienced musicians, which draws on emotion rather than try to discover
and experiment.
