Slipknot

Slipknot lives in the part of the Venn diagram where fiddle music intersects with the rhythms and grooves of classic funk. Students will engage with 16th note rhythm patterns and pre-shifting skills (repeatedly sliding up to the open string octave harmonic is the hook in this piece). There is, of course, a designated solo section that gives budding improvisers an opportunity to express themselves. Recognizing that not every program includes an improvising component, I have also included solo parts for each instrument (the violin solo is the same for 1st and 2nd) so you can let your hot shot players have at it during the solo section even if you don't teach improvisation.
