Snow Day! is a piece for beginning band that lets your students develop multiple ensemble skills while working on a fun piece that reflects one of their favorite things about winter - an unexpected day off from school! This piece uses a simple theme based around five pitches (concert Bb-F). In addition, your trombone players are featured in a solo measure with a glissando, the winds get to shout about building a snowman vs. having a snowball fight and they get to throw snowballs! You can use fabric snowballs or if it's not in your budget to purchase them, just use crumpled up paper. Snow Day! will be a fun addition to your winter concert keeping your students both challenged and engaged.
