The origins of Soft Winter Rain come from three separate events coinciding at the same time. The biggest thing was I reached out to my old piano teacher and gave him some life updates; as I had just finished my first year in college. He told me that at the end of May 2026, he would be shutting down his studio. And he would be having one last recital, and he invited me to come back to perform. At the same time, I recently got my first microphone and audiobox. With the gears turning in my brain, I just needed a springboard to get going, which I found two months later. I went to Frederick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I was walking around their Japanese garden, I saw a plaque affixed to a rock, the plaque said, ‘Soft Winter Rain.’ I saw that and said, ‘That's my piano piece.’
Soft Winter Rain paints the picture of being in a snowy forest, and all you can see are trees. And you're just meandering through the forest, watching the rain slowly fall in the moonlight. You're seeing the moonlight glisten the snow, it's quiet and peaceful, admiring the beautiful scenery. With the use of heavy reverb and delay, enhancing the piano sound, Soft Winter Rain creates a beautiful and peaceful soundscape. Just close your eyes, and relax to the calming scenery.
