Similar to this performer-composer's sonatas for soprano, tenor, and baritone saxophones, this alto sonata, cast in three movements, is predominantly modal in its melodic-harmonic character. The expressive slow middle movement is dedicated to the late saxophonist David Bilger. The piece is especially well-suited for the early college or moderately advanced high-school levels.
