Sortie Heroique is a festive piece for the tuba stop but it's playable on a two-manual organ, provided there is a good trumpet stop on the Great. It's tuneful, of moderate difficulty and similar in character to the Paean composed in August 2019.
Dedicated to Christopher Wren who was an associate of the composer on numerous cathedral visits during his time as Musical Director of the Danensian Choir and gave truly superb service as organ accompanist.
