Space City Shuffle

Commissioned by the Houston Jazz Orchestra, here's a hard-driving shuffle tune that will make your mature ensemble sound first-rate. The rhythm section sets the table for the saxes on the melody, answered by punches from the brass. Solo spots for tenor and trumpet are interspersed with inventive lines for the full ensemble. A soli for the trombone section follows, and a rousing shout chorus caps things off.
