Spiritus Sanctus

Inspired by Saint Hildegard of Bingen's poem of the same name, this piece depicts the Holy Spirit bringing all to life, washing them clean and healing their wounds. The ideas of life and movement are conveyed throughout. The expansive middle section musically depicts the poem's phrases, "washing them clean" and "healing their wounds," and the sudden grand pause (G.P.) represents the ancient sleep mentioned in the poem. Energetic, rhythmic, and syncopated, the piece will be enjoyed by ringer and audience alike.
