Stan's the Man is an outstanding tribute to the great Stan Kenton and his bands. From the opening written piano solo to the classic big Kenton-ish ending, this fine chart allows for plenty of solo space for soloists of choice. The ranges are not really extreme, but the lead trumpet needs to be strong up to high C and the lead trombone goes up to A above the staff. Great music from a terrific composer paying tribute to another great composer. Great festival chart!
