Stars

Sara Teasdale's poem "Stars" expresses wonderment and humility. The music helps convey the viewer's experience of mystery before the universe and the joy of experiencing the stars' radiant colors. This treble choir piece is set in the key of G minor and uses contrapuntal and homophonic textures alternately. The work can be used as a companion piece to the composer's Leaves, with which it shares thematic material, or as a stand-alone work.
