Steampunk

1. A subgenre of science fiction and fantasy featuring advanced machines
and other technology based on steam power of the 19th century and taking
place in a recognizable historical period or a fantasy world.
Commissioned for the Ainsworth High School Band, Ainsworth, Nebraska and
dedicated to the life of Duane S. Osborn, inventor, supporter, creator,
father, friend and great helper and champion of B.E.A.T.: Bejot's Ensemble of
Acoustic Troubadours. From B.E.A.T.'s inception, Duane helped discover,
create, and construct instruments with unique and lasting sounds.
STEAMPUNK is an exciting, medium easy (grade 3) work for concert band that
features driving rhythms, lyrical melodies and sufficient cross-scoring to
support younger and less experienced players. This original work is evocative
of music from the English folk music genre and is well suited for bands with
a large percussion section.
STEAMPUNK is sure to be a hit with band members and audiences alike.
