Rhythm Sheet 1
You can never have enough rhythm sheets.  Here's 128 different measures from whole notes to sixteenth notes and progressing to 12/8 time signatures.  


Melodies of a 3rd
10 old melodies that use only the interval of a 3rd.  Great for building up their new technique by focusing in on 3 notes.  Repeat for tempo as hand posture becomes secure.


Know your Notes A  Z
26 different examples using their first 5 notes.  Great way to make sure every one has a solid grasp of these notes.  I used this as a playoff game to get everyone to practice these notes.  See the game chart that I included.


First Remingtons
Covers the first octave of the concert F chromatic scale.  These four exercises allow students to expand their note abilities quickly. 


Remi Songs
This follow-up exercise to First Remingtons will reinforce their chromatic scale by presenting each of the 4 groups of notes in First Remingtons as a song.


Chromatic Addition
One more chromatic scale exercise to put the whole scale in order.  Students develop their muscle memory to progress both up and down their chromatic scale.


Chords Level 1
Here are some basic chord patterns for you to use to develop young ears.  Basic ranges for the beginner to focus on all their fundamentals.


Klose for Beginners
Here are some of the classic Klose patterns arranged for your beginners.  These will really secure the technique of their foundational notes.


Tetra Chords
Designed as a prep to playing all 12 Major scales.  The Tetra Chord works through the first four notes of each major scale.  When you join two tetra chords you get a major scale.


Step by Step 1
Develop finger dexterity with the use of trill patterns.  Allows you to really develop hand postures.


Beat the Clock
Really challenge your students to push their technical development.  Work on a line a week and watch their progress happens each week.


Going Higher
Extend your beginners range with these fun original songs that incorporate small intervals and are composed around certain notes in order to build range gradually.

Concert Band Score & Parts

Get your beginners excited about performing with these fun, super easy but very musical pieces.  These pieces contain motives, articulations, dynamics that get your kids thinking musically as you keep building their note recognition.  Your Beginners can perform songs, not just unison lines, for your parents, PTO, School Board, etc., within 6 weeks of starting band with these songs.
 
A set of twelve two-part songs using only three diatonic notes per song.  Beginning bands can be performing within weeks of starting to play.  These songs are composed at various levels, allowing you to gradually incorporate them into your group from the 4th- 12th weeks of playing experience.

Choose the songs that reinforce the concepts you want, while your students take an adventure with each new piece.

Performance Pack

7 Songs for beginning band, ranging from very easy to grade 1.  Composed with young players in mind.  Very thematic pieces that students can relate too and enjoy.  Fun for concerts or contests.  These pieces will help your students grow, build their foundational skills and want to learn more music.

Cool Like Me
A light-hearted upbeat piece, exuding happiness with every phrase.  I have to confess, this piece actually taught me something about beginners.  Whenever I would have a fun Friday, this piece was always on the top of there list, before Star Wars or any pop song.  Beginners want music that is happy, upbeat and fun in their repertoire.  This is one your kids will want to rehearse.

Floating Down the River
This piece offers a great opportunity for kids to focus on long, fluid, legato lines with great tone.  Imagine your whole band on a raft floating down a river, moving up and down smoothly as the current travels along. 

The Grizzlies
This piece is a great tool for developing a beginner's fluency in their chromatic scale.  The Grizzlies uses chromatic patterns to create an aura of this majestic animal.  Students can imagine this serious grizzly moving through his territory and defending his domain.

A Cosi Mozart Morning
This piece is based on part of a theme from Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutti".  The melodic leaps add opportunities to build upon their foundational skills while performing a little piece of musical history.

Chaconne and March
This piece offers a real opportunity for students to expand upon all their skills.  Starting in 3, the chaconne will build their lyrical dance abilities and the March switches over to an Allegro in 4, including a modulation.  This could be a nice contest piece for beginners to display multiple skills.

Super Band Meets the Badman
Everyone needs a high energy piece to help keep the momentum going.  The rhythm plays a leading role in the energy and style of this piece.  Kids can really respond to the imagery of the sounds.

The Mammoth
Prehistoric animals make for a great story or song.  The musical images in this piece not only create the feeling of the Mammoth in the low brass, but all the sections get to represent their own prehistoric animal as the Mammoth marches through life.

Performance Pack 2

A set of 5 progressive exercises to use throughout their first year of beginning band as part of their daily warmup routine.  Each exercise focuses on a specific range of notes; helping your beginners build the foundation needed to play and perform music well.

Starting Off
Start off with an exercise that focuses on getting their fundamental skills ingrained with only 3 notes (Concert D, C, Bb).  Get their hand position, embouchure, air stream, tone, and pitch off to good start every day as a review.  Flutes have to maintain their hand position moving from D to C frequently during these exercises.  Ends with Mary had a Little Lamb to put it all together.


Moving On
Moving On extends their range out to a full octave.  Using whole, half, and quarter notes, students get to expand their range into the lower register, building their air, tone, pitch and focus while strengthening their embouchure.


Moving Around
Build fluidity with air and embouchure flexibility through lip slurs, tetra chords, octave leaps.  Introduces clarinets to register drills to build an understanding of how air speed functions throughout the entire range of their instrument.


Moving Forward
This is the big one. Combining major scales, lip slurs, octaves, register drills, clarinet scale patterns across break, and the chromatic scale.  A real air and embouchure builder. After accomplishing this one, they will be able to move forward into performing a diverse set of repertoire.


Moving Up
Adding range is very important during beginning band.  Having a correct air stream and developed embouchure are of a necessity in order to master these top tones for beginners.  Combines register patterns for clarinets and valve patterns for brass to relate register shifts to their learning.
