String Music in Patterns: For Better Intonation

Designed for the orchestra classroom, this method book provides 17 pieces for string orchestra that are each performed using a single finger pattern, as found in the popular Bornoff methodology. Each pattern reinforces intonation and finger placement for violin, viola, cello, and bass though individual compositions that are preceded by a warm-up using that particular finger pattern. All instruments have interesting melodic and harmonic lines and violins, violas and celli remain in first position, while basses are given the opportunity to shift within the pattern.
