Felix Mendelssohn wrote 12 String Symphonies when he was a 12 year old prodigy in music. You can detect what he was studying as a child, but you can also find the musical stylistic qualities that came from Mendelssohn as a mature composer. This 6th String Symphony is in three movements, taking about 9 minutes to play. The 2nd Trio of the middle movement makes use of a Lutheran hymn tune, something Mendelssohn did in his larger symphonic works. The score and separate parts are provided (4 flutes).
