Program Notes: Ever since I was very young, I have frequently resorted to movement as a means to unravel the storms that so often plague my mind. As a person with a constant internal monologue and a very vivid capacity for mental imagery, going on long walks/runs or drives across Southern Denton County has been the best way for me to work out the chaos of my mind, and I have grown quite fond of these so-called “mind-expeditions” throughout my life. Stroll and Drive is a two-part work that essentially seeks to capture these mind-expeditions, additionally inspired by Tom Wesselman’s sculpture Standing Tulip, and further informed by the physical environments and various interests I have cycled through over the course of my life.
