This piece is built on a repeated eight-bar motif. Between these motifs are symphonic excursions, but always returning to the original motif. This represents the concept of practicing through repetition. The excursions represent new goals achieved through practice. Multiple syncopations and dynamics keep the music interesting for both players and listeners.
