Stubernic

The title of this marimba trio is derived from the last name of a couple that attended college with the composer. The piece itself is inspired by the many stories the couple shared with the composer upon their return from a humanitarian aid trip to Guatemala and Nicaragua. The stories involved their adventures and the many marimba bands they heard. The piece does not cite any music from Latin America, but succeeds in capturing the region's spirit and energy.
