Sugar Train

This engaging, straight-ahead swinger for developing groups is dedicated to two saxophone giants: Stanley Turrentine, whose biggest hit was Sugar, and John Coltrane, affectionately known as "Trane." In a funky swing style, the first chorus features a combo of alto sax, tenor sax and trumpet within a big band setting. There's an open solo section with changes provided for all players. Perfect as on opener, this chart contains flexible instrumentation to accommodate any young group - it's playable by as few as 9 pieces. Can be expanded all the way to a 17 piece big band and beyond, since optional flute, clarinet, horn in F, tuba and vibes parts are also included.
