Suite of Appalachian Folk Songs

This group of folk songs was inspired by musicologist Cecil Sharpe's Appalachian Mountain journey in the early 1900s where he collected British folk songs that had been passed down from generation to generation in this culturally rich area. Short, tight movements, each with its own unique musical identity, are tuneful and stylish, culminating in a spirited reel. The musical variety and historical significance make this an important addition to the concert and festival repertoire.
