Sunrise on South Padre

Written about Texas' South Padre Island, this concert and contest selection will introduce performers to easy alternating time signatures. Starting slowly to represent the sun rising, the day soon begins with a faster section featuring different ostinato rhythms, varied dynamics, and active percussion writing. Performing the articulations at the indicated tempo is a challenge, but it sounds good at any appropriate tempo.
