Composed as a thesis to fulfill Tucker's ,aster's degree, Sunshower is a symphonic poem in four continuous movements for wind ensemble. Sunshower is both an exploration of sonority and a programmatic display of the depth and beauty of one of nature's true phenomenons. Movement 1, "Storms - in media res," presents the ambiguous aura created by a sunshower featuring rain-storm sounds from the percussion and sequenced melodic lines in the woodwinds. Movement II, "Origins," traces the beginning of the sunshower backing a storm in a distant location created by the swirling of clouds and the influence of the growing winds. Movement III, "The Traveling Rains," depicts through various motives and ideas how the rain from the previous movement travels to the location of the sunshower. Movement IV, "Arrival," returns to the original aura of the piece and shared a refreshed and vitalized version of the piece's original theme. The last movement concludes with a flourish of previous motives to quickly recap the piece and finalize on an exciting and vigorous chord.
