Heinrich Domnich (1767-1844) was professor of horn specializing in cor basse at the Paris Conservatory from 1795 until 1817. The Symphonie Concertante pour Deux Cors was composed between 1805 and 1810. The piece reflects Domnichs traditional approach to horn playing with very distinct and characteristic lines for cor alto high horn and cor basse low horn. Like his earlier concerti there is much in terms of technique.
