The folksong, "Tafta Hindi," is a tale of a young suitor and the object of his affection. In a surge of desire, the swain races to the dwelling where the girl and her companions are sewing. He knocks forcefully on the door and croons for her to come out to him. The company within is astir. The older ladies shake their heads at the earnestness of the suitor's pleas, and the girls of the village try to contain their glee upon hearing the urgent cries. Anxious that the maiden will be withheld from him, the lad bellows that, if the door is not opened to him, he will break in through the window. His daring impropriety manifests the torturous pleasure of first love.
