Take Him, Earth, for Cherishing

British composer Herbert Howells was commissioned to write a piece in memoriam of President John F. Kennedy for a joint Canadian/American memorial service. This nine-minute piece, a motet, was first performed by the choir of the Cathedral of St. George from Kingston, Ontario on November 22, 1964, the first anniversary of Kennedy's death.
