A collection of three contrasting pieces for level 1 Junior String Orchestra with optional beginner open strings parts so all the students in your strings program can join in right from the start! The Quest Begins, Drifting Down the River and The Hedgehog's Picnic are fun and engaging tunes that sound impressive while being very straightforward to learn. The melody parts use just the notes on the D and A strings with the beginner parts just using open strings.  Exciting piano accompaniment included for each piece.

A set of three fun and engaging tunes for beginner string orchestra. The three contrasting pieces only use notes on the D string, open strings and halfway harmonics to enable students to be able to start playing these pieces after only a few months of lessons.

Trio of Tunes for Beginner String Orchestra

The Winding Road starts out as simple, wistful folk tune passed from the Violin 1s to the Violin 2s. The piece builds in depth and harmonic complexity as the cellos and violas play a version of the melody rising to an optimistic and satisfying finale. The piece depicts how life's journey can have sometime bittersweet twists and turns but ultimately we find our way home. Students will enjoy the expressive quality of this piece.  The piano accompaniment part is optional but recommended.

The Winding Road

Run Toward Tomorrow is influenced by the character of modern day pop
  music hits. The uplifting melody and driving rhythms create an impressive
  sound while still being highly technically manageable for combined level 2
  and level 0.5-1 string orchestras. The inclusion of the beginner parts and an
  optional piano accompaniment make this piece ideal for an all-in-together
  strings performance at an end-of-season concert. Tapping the body of the
  string instruments also includes an enjoyable percussive element to the
  piece. The piece has proven popular among numerous Australian school string
  ensembles.

Run Towards Tomorrow

A dramatic but also accessible piece for combined junior and beginner string orchestra. Students will enjoy the sweeping melody and the rhythmic accompaniment. A great showcase piece for your end-of-year concert.

Mission to the Stars

Exploring Wonderous Realms leads students on a hopeful journey of  discovery. 
    
    Students will enjoy the pop-song style, bright melodies and infectious
  rhythmic patterns.  
    
    The melody line is shared by all sections with cello and bass players
  having their own 
    
    countermelody in the second half of the piece. The piece is carefully
  designed for ease of
    
    playability with the second violin and viola players stay in middle hand
  pattern throughout 
    
    and no left hand extension are needed for cello players. Piano
  accompaniment that supports 
    
    and enhances the performance is included but the piece can also be
  performed 
    
    without accompaniment.
