All of the characteristics of a traditional fanfare are present in this highly emotional work while incorporating heavy dissonances and contrasting legato lines. Playable by developed high school bands, this fresh departure from the traditional fanfare will add a nice variety to your program.

The Beginning of All Things

This piece is designed to elicit a feeling of ice and subtle motion (such as the possibility of water underneath the surface). The work contains an homage to Holst's The Planet with the opening solo on horn in Europa reminiscent of that from Venus. The suspension and resolution occurring after between the two loud sections is also a passage coming from the end of Mars which builds up suspense for the final motif.  While there is no specific programmatic story, the opening as an icy chill of percussion moving towards a more energetic color can give one a sense of traveling to and passing the moon on a satellite of craft.

Concerto for Tuba and Wind Orchestra

Io and Europa are the two most interesting and scientifically important  for several reasons. Io is the most volcanically active body in the solar  system due to the literal stretching of the planets solid surface during  orbit around Jupiter's massive gravity. This pulling and stretching of the  crust creates heat and volcanic activity, driving away any water.                 This piece is designed to convey both the isolation of Io and also its  aggravated geological force. On its surface volcanoes produces plumes of  sulfur and sulfur dioxide.

Based on the hymn The Angel Gabriel from Heaven Came, this work explores the dark and the light and the deliverance of the news of the Annunciation. The work juxtaposes the hymn with a blend of new material and traditional holiday music. While the piece is perfect for performances during the holiday season, it's also suitable any time of year.

This composition is a reflection on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. It begins delicately and cascades into an exploration of color and dissonance. Each section plays on a different mood but maintains a feeling of hope and optimism throughout.

While an original composition, the concept derived from various inspirations such as the music of Bartok, Stravinsky, and Brahms - a combination that provided a useful combination of sounds and musical devices appropriate for the subject.
