Many years ago (2019-ish), I was in high school, writing some of my first compositions. This piece combines two of my interests at that time, brass instrumentation and weird time signatures. I have always been bad at naming my pieces, usually opting for various gamertags from Xbox, PlayStation, etc. Around the time I finished this piece, I spoke to a classmate of mine who stated she has synesthesia. This is a condition some people have where they can smell colors, taste sounds, or some other interesting collision of the senses. I thought this was so cool, so I asked her to tell me what color my composition was. I neglected to tell her that her answer would be the name of this piece. Soon after she was done listening to it, she said "Teal."
Though this is not a very lengthy piece, it will always hold a very special place in my heart.
While playing this song, utilize the caesura as much as you can. Please take a few seconds, count the change out loud, have someone visualize it, or whatever else you may need to get each time change locked in.
Enjoy!
