Tenting on the Old Campground

With a nod to Taps, this Civil War song is scored for guitar, clarinet and SATB choir. Featuring treble voices on verse one and the tenor/bass on verse two, this beautiful arrangement by Rene captures the sadness and desperation felt by soldiers on the battlefield. Coming together in a unison statement "We are tired of war on the old campground," the pain in the music is clear. The clarinet captures the melancholy, and the guitar is simple and transparent in much the same way it would be in the middle of the campground.
