Tha mi sgith is a Gaelic fairy song. I heard it in Michael Sweeney's Celtic Air and Dance, and had to learn more. I discovered there were no arrangements of the song on JW Pepper and had to change that. This setting is aimed for treble choirs of all ages, beginning at upper elementary. It is a beautiful piece, the tune of which is often used as a lullaby. The song talks about how a girl fell in love with a fairy, yet the girl was not able to continue to see the fairy after her family discovered the love between the two. Featuring a wonderful piano part and simple harmonies, as well as a melody with only an octave range, this piece is a wonderful choice for your choral ensemble!
