⚠ Warning about Solid Body, Vintage Acoustic Guitars with Heavy Cases
These shelves are designed for lightweight student guitars. If you are a guitar player or anyone wishing to store heavier solid body guitars, in or out of their cases, or guitars with nitro finishes, the Band Room Double-Stack Racks are NOT recommended. Instead, please see the Session-Pro™ Double-Stack electric guitar shelves for schools for a more appropriate solution. They’re nitro safe guitar stands that are built to hold heavier weights long-term.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Can the Band Room Double-stack also hold mariachi instruments?
A: Yes! It doubles as a mariachi instrument storage rack, able to hold your students’ requintos, bajo quintos, vihuelas and even guitarrons.
Q: How easy is the rack to assemble?
A: We provide clearly illustrated instructions and all necessary hardware. Still, the assembly is moderately complex and much easier with a second person to help out.
Q: How many inches will the guitar cases extend above the height of the rack?
A: It can vary somewhat depending on the case model but in general we suggest approximately 7-8″ for ceiling clearance.
Q: Can rectangular cases fit on the top shelf?
A: Yes, rectangular cases will fit on the top shelf but NOT the bottom shelf.
Q: What holds rectangular cases upright?
A: There is a specially-designed guitar pick-shaped “bookend” that keeps the guitar cases upright and together. Also, just like any other case, rectangular cases sit in a stable position where they rest back against the top rail. There is enough flat surface area on the bottom edge of the case to allow it to sit upright.
Q: Does the listed height of 69 ½” H inches include the wheels?
A: Yes it does.
Q: How many inches of space are needed between the rack and the wall so that the cases do not rub against the wall?
A: It can vary somewhat depending on the case model but in general we suggest you leave approximately 6″ of space.
Q: What size doorway will this product fit through?
A: The rack fits through doorways up to 80 inches high and 33 inches wide. Cases and guitars add further height and width depending on their size.
Q: Can I easily remove all the separator dowels to fit more guitar cases?
A: Yes, they are all removable. They can be placed anywhere along the rail OR they can be removed completely to give you more storage area for more instruments.
Q: Will the guitars or cases directly contact the wood of the cross rails?
A: No. There is a high-grade, durable plastic molding along the rails which the guitars and cases rest on.
Q: Can this product be assembled and used without the wheels?
A: Yes. We provide the wheels just in case the rack needs to be moved around your room, but it can certainly be used without the wheels. If you have low ceilings and need extra height, you may prefer to eliminate the wheels which add 6 inches.
