An arrangement of a 19th century cornet showpiece. This version is scored for three solo trumpets, but can be performed for one or two as well. The trumpets are scored with a standard distribution (high, medium and low parts) as well as a mixed version where the three trumpets have more or less equal parts. The Enthusiast was recorded by the U.S. Marine Corp Band in 1894, presumably by Jules Levy, one of the most prominent cornettists of his era. Levy may also have written the work.
