"The Everlasting Spirit" is a musical representation of the spirit, lifeforce, enthusiasm, etc. that lives inside all of us. It also can represent the spirit that lives within an organization, a team, a family; the spirit that keeps us united, alive, hopeful; which keeps us moving forward each and every day.
"The Everlasting Spirit" was premiered by the Legacy High School Symphonic Winds in May of 2017. The piece was written as a representation of the energy that continued to live in the
band program after many years of continued successes, many years of excitement, and many years of memories.
This piece is written in the fresh, uncommon, but beautiful key of concert E major - which is a rarity in band literature. It definitely will challenge the students, but it will also be an uplifting beginning or end to any concert - and it will be rewarding for all, especially for the students, once they learn this key and are able to play the piece!
