The Gift of Life is a six-movement work was written in honor of Terry Price and in memory of Alice Marie Lind. The first performance took place in April, 2015 at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas. The middle movement, Hymn to the Creator of Light, is for double chorus and was originally composed in 1992 in memory of Herbert Howells. This work is Mr. Rutter at his best, with colorful text settings and beautiful lyric melodies. The 42-minute work is accompanied by either orchestra or chamber orchestra, available for rent from the publisher.
