The Groove Factor is a straight-ahead medium-tempo swing chart that begins with a nice head stated by the brass and then the full ensemble. It features a lot of movement, but it's not difficult - allowing your band to concentrate on swinging hard. It's in a minor key, and just when you think you know where it's going, the harmonies change and lead to something new. The open solo section is built upon very basic, minor blues changes. There are plenty of dynamic contrasts, with a very soft sax soli leading into a shout chorus that really roars. This one is way cool, but the energy it creates is very hot! Highly recommended!
