The Hat and the Glove

A raw and compelling play with music inspired by the life and shadow of legendary choreographer Bob Fosse. Set inside a rehearsal studio, the work unfolds with an ensemble of dancers always onstage, embodying the relentless atmosphere of a dance class. Through drills, fragments of public domain classics, and two showstopping numbers—Glow-Worm (sung in unison with choreography) and Puttin’ on the Ritz (full SAB/SATB choral feature)—the piece explores perfectionism, obsession, love, and loss. The Choreographer himself never sings until the very end, when he breaks the silence with an unaccompanied reprise of Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child, closing the show with haunting vulnerability. This is not a jukebox musical, but a powerful play with music—equal parts theatrical, confessional, and unforgettable.
