Written for the Santa Clara Vanguard percussion ensemble, this composition is based upon three movements of Bartok's original work, The Beginning, The Second Seduction and The Chase. Written for eight percussionists using the following instruments: bells/marimba; xylophone/crotales/marimba; vibes/marimba; vibes; two marimbas; five timpani and a percussion part using a wide array of instruments. Crotales and chimes are also used. An extremely challenging piece for the very advanced ensemble.
