The Piper's Patrol

Here is a hard-swinging take on an old traditional tune, as performed by the Ted Heath band. The chart is all sectional work, with no solos, with the melodic elements shared around the sections in rotation: trombones, saxes, trumpets, full ensemble, saxes, brass, trombones, and full ensemble to the end. Although relatively straightforward to play, the chart demands good sectional discipline and intonation. The brass ranges are fairly high with lead trumpet to E-flat and lead trombone to D-flat, and there are no sax doubles.
