The Power of the Cross

This powerful ballad depicts the darkness and pain Jesus suffered while treading the road to Calvary and finally being slain on the cross. Patti Drennan beautifully arranged this song, as well as incorporated the familiar hymn Near the Cross. The optional oboe part helps add musical depth and color. An a cappella refrain of the original hymn closes this anthem with a reflectively quiet ending.
