The Reading Room: Level One is a progressive sight-reading resource for concert band designed for short, consistent use in daily rehearsal. This collection includes 10 full-band sight-reading exercises with complete score and parts, giving developing ensembles focused practice in rhythm reading, note recognition, rests, eighth-note fluency, accidentals, dynamics, articulations, slurs, staccato, key changes, ensemble entrances, and independent reading skills. This set falls under a general Grade 1 or Easy (E) difficulty level.
Designed for middle school bands, developing high school ensembles, and young concert bands, Level One uses brief, rehearsal-friendly exercises that gradually expand musical demands while reinforcing previously introduced skills.
The Reading Room can be used for daily sight-reading, ensemble literacy, concert band fundamentals, music reading practice, rhythm reading, rehearsal warm-ups, assessment preparation, and general musicianship development. The goal is to help students become more confident, accurate, and independent music readers through frequent exposure to unfamiliar music.
