Dwell Within Me

This a cappella arrangement by Andrew Everson has its roots firmly planted in world music. The SATB ensemble unites to carry the refrain, and provides punctuation and support to the soloist’s verses. This piece moves at a somewhat relaxed tempo, making the syncopated rhythms and carefully-placed rests easy to perform; they begin to feel natural very quickly. The refrain is a call for God’s presence within each of us, and the verses amplify this call, asking the Breath of life to blow, the Fire of love to burn, and the Font of life to flow in us. A small ensemble with a soloist or two will make it their own in a short time and inspire listeners to seek the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
